Charles Chan has did it again. He managed to get a priceless ticket to the upcoming track and field competion. Money can't buy it but Quanxi makes it all happen and Charles has deep ties to Beijing and the athletes there. He will be watching out for Liu Xiang the 110 meter hurdler that won in Athens and is expected to take the gold medal in Beijing. He is also cheering on his gymnastic colleagues Yang Wei, Li Xiao Peng, Cheng Fei, He Kexin and Chen Yibing as they go for the gold medals in their individual competitions. A big surprise to Charles was seeing Li Na beat Venus Williams to move closer to the gold medal for the tennis championship. Aug 10 Olympic fever

Charles tells about his excitement of being able to get a ticket from a long time friend of his Mao Mao a National Aerobic Champion. This time instead of walking he was able to take the MTR to stadium, transportation is working better. The Olympic park is an amazing party with lots of events and things going on everywhere. He got to meet lots of team members and supporters like the Russian rowing team and parent of Australian gymnasts. The ticket prices are outrageous a 50 RMB ticket is being scalped for 1000 RMB or more. The Olympic stadium seats 20,000 and it is sold out. He saw the Russian, Ukrainian and German gymnastic teams compete. In addition, he remembered the boy that was a Sichuan earthquake hero. It is a great story of the little boy that walked out during the opening ceremony with Mao. He was a hero that saved 7 people's lives by pulling them from the rubble.

Aug 9 The Olympic Opening

Charles was able to capture much of the excitement of the opening ceremony but he is still fascinated by the events he saw prior to the opening ceremony. He shares pictures and thoughts of his great adventure on his second report from Beijing. One of his highlights was having dinner with his gymnastics family from when he was training in Beijing with the Hong Kong National Team. He used to train at the Beijing Sports School where he is now a guest. The National training ceremony is where all the top athletes and coaches are from.

Aug. 7 First day in Beijing for the Olympics

Charles Chan will be providing inside and personal accounts of the Beijing Olympics as only a member of the National Team and true Hong Kong Hero could. He will be giving regular Vlog updates to keep us posted. You can find Charles updates on: http://www.so-u.tv/

Charles landed in Beijing to total turmoil. Transportation is very difficult and he found it easier to walk to get a view of the sites. He could not get close to most displays and therefore taking pictures is difficult. There is too much security and lots and lots of people. An International Judge who is a friend of his got him admittance to the Gymnastics Stadium where he was able to get pictures of the China men’s and women’s team. The atmosphere is electric with so many people all being very excited about the event. People are taking extraordinary measures to get there such as overnight cab rides and special direct flights from Shenzhen. The city is alive with special celebrations and outdoor art. Everywhere you look there is something amazing to see.
